The second NEPAD Transport Summit will take place during October 2010 - Transport Month. The two-day Summit will be taking place alongside a four-day ATTIEX (Africa Transport, Trade and Infrastructure Exhibition).
The Focus for 2010 will be:
• Multi-modal transport infrastructure planning
• Uniformity in transport infrastructure development
• Opening up borders for all modes of transport
• Financing of new projects and development corridors
• Creating Africa awareness and driving forward the green agenda in the Transport Sector
Planning is key. Whether it’s corridor development, routing of trucks, shipping of coastal cargoes, upgrading railway infrastructure or whether it involves connecting all modes of transport across borders, planning is vital.
The 2010 Summit attracted more than 800 delegates and there were over 120 exhibitors at the Africa Expo African countries at the Summit included:
Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, DRC, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, Gambia, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Representatives were also present from France, Brussels, Japan, India and Russia.
Organisations represented at the Summit included:
